Busy Sunday

What a busy day!

Justin and I have been taking turns getting up early in the morning with Noah while we've been on vacation so we can each get caught up on sleep. I took this picture this morning while we let Daddy get a little shut-eye. He's always seems to wake up in such a good mood!

We went bowling this afternoon with Grandma Kathy, Grandpa Tom, Aunt Leahna, Uncle Adam and Uncle Seth. We were at the bowling alley for over 2 hours and Noah was awake the entire time. He's such a great baby- being passed around from person to person without fussing. We are so lucky to have such a happy baby.

After bowling we went to Grandma Debbie and Grandpa Jerry's house. Granny was there. We watched the remainer of the Bronco game and Noah took 40 winks before dinner. After dinner Noah got some one-on-one time with Grandma Debbie and Granny.

I had to include this picture of Grandpa Tom and Uncle Seth pondering the bowling scores- they're very competative, you know :)

4 Months Old Today!

Here's Noah sitting on his Daddy's lap. The two of them are watching The Price Is Right. It's hard to believe that he is four months old today! It's amazing how much he changes from day to day. He's started to roll from his back to his tummy. He's been laughing a lot more lately and exploring with his voice.

Yesterday Aunt Jackie wrote and said that they were having a "do nothing day" back in South Holland, IL. We were successfull having one of those yesterday as well and from the looks of it today will be the same. It's been snowing outside all morning. Justin was going to go with Kathy, Tom, Adam and Leahna to Blackhawk for a little gambling. But, instead will be spending the day with Noah and I. The only plans we have is to bake some brownies from a mix that one of my kiddos gave me for Christmas to celebrate Noah's 4 month birthday.
Happy 4 months little Noah!
Mommy and Daddy love you tons!

Christmas Greetings

Merry Christmas! As you can see from the picture above, Noah is in toyland! We had a great Christmas Eve at Grandma Kathy's and Grandpa Tom's last night and will soon be on our way over to Grandma Debbie's and Grandpa Jerry's. Before we go I thought I'd post some pictures that we took this morning.

Justin, Noah and I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, filled with joy and shared with loved ones.

Presents, presents, presents!!

It's a good thing that Noah's too little to spoil! Justin and I just spent 3 hours wrapping presents for him and our families. Needless to say the recipient of the majority of those gifts is not yet 4 months old. He doesn't have any concept of what Christmas is, yet he'll be receiving a TON of gifts! As we were wrapping them, we realized just how much stuff we bought for him, it's totally crazy!
To top it off, we went to a toy store, Grand Rabbits, today. It's a really neat store, pricey, but neat. That's where our Christmas budget was really "done in". Justin found some really neat blocks, I found a piggy bank, we each found a book and a little stuffed animal for him. As I said, it's a good thing that he's too young to spoil! :)

St. Nick

Noah meet Jolly Ol' Santa Claus today! Kathy and Tom rode with me down to Noah's doctors appointment at Childrens. He had an appointment about his skin, which is doing well. Our appointment was at 8 am and we were there at 7:15- made it in plenty of time! Afterwards is when we went to Flatirons Mall to get Noah's picture taken with Santa. We were there at 9 when Santa opened shop and there was already a line! They sure move people in and out of it quickly. I got Noah out of the stroller and before I knew it they had snapped four pictures of him with Santa and were asking me which one I liked the best. Next year when we take Noah to see Kris Kringle I'll be better prepared.

Christmas Cards

Here's our little Santa!

Noah was very tired tonight so getting pictures of him for our Christmas cards was a little trickier than it normally would have been. We did managed to get quite a few of him smiling, one of the perks of having such a happy baby. After he went to bed I got online to order the cards. Our cards will most likely be going out after Christmas, although if they come as quickly as his birth announcements did, it shouldn't be too shortly after the holiday.

I should have been on top of getting these pictures taken, we've had the Santa suit since before Halloween! In fact, at Halloween we weren't sure if he'd fit into his cow outfit since he had grown so much. We joked that we could always dress him up as Santa if it didn't fit! And guess what?! The Santa suit was pretty snug when he had it on tonight!

So in the end, my Christmas cards will be late. But as they say: "Better late than never!"

What A Difference A Year Makes!

This is one of Noah's first pictures. It was one year ago today that Justin and I found out about Noah. It was my first official day of Winter Break. Justin, teaching in a different district, had two more days of school. I had been battling a cold and decided to go into the doctor about it. I was diagnosed with a sinus infection. Because my doctor was going to prescribe antibiotics, she decided that she should first give me a pregnancy test. Noah was a complete surprise, I had been told by a different doctor that it would be almost impossible for me to get pregnant. I was in such a state of shock, that I called Justin at school and gave him the news. I was going to a movie that afternoon with my mom and I was so afraid that I would spill the beans! We were able to keep it a secret until New Years (Seth and Julie had gone back to Michigan for Christmas and we wanted to announce the pregnancy when everyone was in town). I don't think I'll ever get a Christmas present that will top that one!

Here's Noah waving:
"Hello to all family and friends out in cyber-land!"

Christmas Is Coming!

I think this picture is too cute. It seems as if he's contemplating if he's on Santa's naughty or nice list. (We all know he's definately on the nice list!)

It's so hard to believe that Christmas is just over a week away! This fall has really flown by, I'm not usre if it's because of my maternity leave and not having been in school so long or it's having a new born around and cherishing every moment spent with him. I'm thinking it's most likely a combination of the two, with an emphasis on the latter.

Justin, Noah and I went to the mall today. We're almost done with our Christmas shopping- we only have Noah left to buy for. It's actually harder to shop for him than I thought it would be. He's not really playing with that many toys, so all the toys that we're getting for him are for him to play with later. There are so many things out there! And then there's the worry about buying something that was made in China and has been recalled.

After we went shopping we went over to Grandma Kathy's and Grandpa Tom's to help bake Christmas cookies. Uncle Seth, Uncle Adam and Aunt Leahna were all there. They did a great job baking, while Noah and I watched (and Noah slept a little). It's always such fun to see the aunts and uncles play with Noah.

Just Not Enough Time!

It sure feels like there hasn't been enough hours in the day for the past two days! My choir had their winter concert last night. It was Noah's first concert. He was a great little audience member and all the kids thought he was TOO cute. But, because of the concert, I didn't get to spend much time with him. Then today after school was the monthly staff "professional development." I got to sit around for two hours listening to teachers talk about how to improve their students' writing skills. While I value their efforts, I would have much rather been at home with Noah and Justin! So, when Noah woke up at 4:30 this morning to feed and didn't fall back asleep, I didn't mind rocking him, to say the least. I held him long after he fell asleep, knowing that I wouldn't get to spend much time with him today. I sure am looking forward to having all evening with him and Justin tomorrow!

I managed to get a few pictures tonight, including this one of Noah holding his rattle, "Sheldon the Sheep." At his two month doctor appointment, the doctor recommended trying to get him to hold a rattle. All the rattles we had were too heavy, so my mom picked up this rattle for him. It's really quite ugly, but he loves it. He loves it so much that Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Tom had to get their own Sheldon to keep at their house. (By the way, it was Grandpa Tom who gave Sheldon his name)

Speaking of Grandma Kathy, for all you "Minn-Os" out there, here's a picture of Noah and Grandma Kathy taken this morning.

I bet they have a lot of fun while Justin and I are at work! Like one of Noah's shirts says, "What happens at Grandma's, stays at Grandma's"!

Football

I have found that since there are two boys in the house, Sundays are now comsumed by football. The t.v. goes on even before the first game starts. I knew that having a son Justin would use this as an excuse to have football on all day. What I didn't realize is how much Noah would like football (or so it seems he likes it). We were at my parents house a couple weekends ago. My brother, Aaron, got on the floor to play with Noah. Well, he got in Noah's way of the television and Noah got upset. Aaron moved out of the way, and Noah was fine again. Just to see if this was a fluke, Aaron got in Noah's way again. Noah responded the same way, getting upset and then he was fine when Aaron got out of his way. Everytime this was repeated, Uncle Aaron got the same response from Noah. Makes me wonder, was there a football gene that he inherited?!!

We're On A Roll!

Noah is changing more and more everyday. When we got from school today we put Noah on his quilt on the floor and started to unload our bags from the car. We were in the kitchen and noticed that Noah was on his side. I went over to play with him and put him on his back. Pretty soon he rolled onto his side again. Thinking maybe this was just luck, I turned him on his back to see what would happen. Everytime I rolled him on his back he would roll back onto his side. He spent a lot of time tonight working on this new skill. He was also a lot happier during "tummy time" tongiht, lifting his head high and trying to get his knees under him. All too soon he'll be on the go!

I wish I knew how to put a video clip on here. Justin was singing and making Noah "dance" tonight. He was laughing harder than either of us had ever heard him laugh before. (and I did get most of it on tape!) It was so sweet.

Another new thing he's doing is "posing" for pictures (I'm sure this isn't intentional). It seems that lately he'll look at the camera when it's out and smile. I was reading him "Mr. Brown Can Moo" when Justin went to take this picture: he looked up and started smiling for the camera!

Long Day

Today seemed like such a long day, although Justin and I did get a lot more sleep last night. Noah went to bed around 8:45 pm and woke up around 5 am. Normally he gets up around 3 am to feed. So we were treated to a night of uninterupted sleep!

I felt like a chicken running around with it's head cut off at school today. I am the student council sponsor and have a fundraiser going on with that, in addition to the canned food drive that we sponsor. My choir has a concert next Tuesday, so preparing for that is also taking a lot of my time. Last year I stayed at school between classes and the concert. Now that Noah is here, I want to come home in between school and the concert and that requires getting everything from programs to the stage ready ahead of time.

I am usually good about getting thank you cards written and I haven't had time to write them for a couple gifts Noah has received from family and friends. Justin's godmother, Jackie, made Noah this quilt: Thanks, Jackie!!! It's so beautiful. We've hung it in the family room so we can see it all the time and thoroughly enjoy it. (And I'm hoping to drop you a card in the mail soon!!)

The Start of a Blog

I'm not sure who, if anyone will read this, but in case anyone does, here goes!

My son, Noah, is 14 weeks old today. It's hard to believe he's been here that long, how fast that time has gone and how much Justin's and my lives have changed in that time. He's growing up too fast!!! He sure loves to talk and this past weekend it seems that he's gotten louder! Grandma Kathy (who, with the help of Grandpa Tom, watches him while we're at work) has even noticed how much louder he got over the weekend. He has also developed some great facial expressions- check out the "Elvis" impression that he can do!
